While those in colder climates dream of national Bike Month in May, last night Mayor Joey Durel officially proclaimed April as Bike Month 2013 in Lafayette where Spring (and Summer) comes earlier. This second annual (2012 was our first) Lafayette Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride. Whether you bike to work or school; to save money or time; to preserve your health or the environment; to explore your community or get to your destination, get involved in any of the many Bike Month activities planned by Bike Lafayette, T.R.A.I.L. and Lafayette Consolidated Government. In the coming days and weeks, we'll cover them all here, including FestiVELO, Bicycle Commuting Basics, Traffic Skills 101, Bike to Work Week, Bike to Work Day, Cycle Zydeco, Tour de Festival, and more.
